Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a syndrome that characterized by recurrent upper respiratory tract obstructions episodes, often reduction of the arterial oxygen saturation and consequent seconder endothelial dysfunction. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), is a chemokine that has activity in cell migration and atherogenesis and secreted from the endothelial cells which activated by hypoxia. In present study, we aimed to compare the levels of rs1024610-rs1024611 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of MCP-1 that plays important role in the development of atherosclerosis between the OSAS patients without comorbidity disease, OSAS patients with only coronary arterial disease (CAD) and healthy population. METHOD: 201 OSAS patients (66 male, 44 female OSAS and 54 male, 37 female OSAS+KAH) who were mean aged 53 years and were diagnosed having full polysomnography all night at the sleep laboratory and 100 (50 male, 50 female) healthy control enrolled into the study between November 2014 to December 2016. Cases were examined based on snoring, periodic apnea, daytime sleepinence by Epworth sleep scale. Demography (age, sex, smoking history) and anthropometric measurements (height, body mass index [BMI]) were recorded. from each patient, 5cc venous blood was taken after hospitalization to the sleep laboratory for analyze MCP-1 rs1024610-rs1024611 SNP. RESULTS: In the population with OSAS; BMI, AHI, triglyceride and mean desaturation were high compared to the healthy controls. (p<0,05) In the OSAS+CAD group, BMI, AHI, LDL cholesterol, cholesterol and mean desaturation levels were higher, compared to the patients with OSAS. In the analysis of MCP-1 rs1024611 SNP homozigot mutation was higher in the OSAS+CAD group compared to the healthy group and with OSAS group. (p<0,001) In the analysis of MCP-1 rs1024610 SNP, we didn't find any important differences between these 3 groups. CONCLUSION: CAD prevalance is higher in the OSAS patients with MCP-1 rs1024611 SNP homozygote mutation. We didn't find any important difference between levels of MCP-1 rs1024610 mutation in the groups. Key Words: atherosclerosis, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome
