Özet (EN)
Objective: Noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) is a method of providing pressurized respiratory support through a mask without the use of an endotracheal tube. Long-term home non-invasive mechanical ventilation is an expensive treatment which requires patient compliance, and if patient compliance is improved, NIMV may be more useful and treatment costs for patients with COPD, OSAS and other respiratory disorders may be significantly reduced. In this study, we aimed to investigate the factors affecting patient compliance in order to obtain better results for NIMV. Material and Methods: Between January 2014 and December 2016, retrospective records of 111 patients who were treated at the Dicle University Medical Faculty Chest Diseases Clinic and eligible for long-term use of 'Non Invasive Mechanical Ventilation (NIMV)' were obtained, patients were interviewed and evaluation was made by the questionnaire form. Results: Of the patients, 37 were COPD patients and 74 were OSAS patients. OSAS patients were accepted as Group I and COPD patients as Group II.Statistical analyzes was performed by using SPSS version 14.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences, USA) software. Statistical analysis was accepted as significiant at 95% confidence interval, a p <0.05 value. NIMV use time (hours / day), NIMV use status (use, discontinued), and satisfaction ratings were used for compliance assessment. Conclusion: We identified the values of pH and PCO2 before use of NIMV, the number of emergency serivices referrals, the number of hospitalizations, the time NIMV was used, the duration of daily USOT use, educational status, health assurance, BMI and EPAP values are factors affecting compliance in this study.
