The Comparison of Turkish questions in student selection examination (ÖSS) with Turkish language and literature curriculums of secondary education

Prof. Dr. Muhsine BÖREKÇİ This study has been done with the aim of comparing "The power of using Turkish" having very important place in ÖSS with the curriculums of Turkish Language and Literature applied in secondary education. In this study the teaching curriculums applied in 1957 and 1991-92 Student Selection Examinations from firstly applied in 1981 to 2001 have been studied. In addition to this, the secondary education and high education in Turkish National Education System have been searched with the subjects of historically improving time period of Turkish and Literature teaching untill now. In study the questions in ÖSS have been named according to their question sentences and the appropriatness level of the questions in ÖSS have been tried to find out by comparing with the teaching curriculums and the subjects of their course books used in applying activities. The Turkish questions in ÖSS are related with the subjects of semantic and grammer and most of them have been placed in teaching curriculums directly and sometimes indirectly; but it has been understood that there have been a lot of problems and weaknesses about Turkish Language and Literature teaching curriculums in getting the students to have enough information, ability and motivation, to win the ÖSS especially 1957. As a result it has been found out and understood that the content of ÖSS have been more aqual to the content of 1991-92 teaching curriculum as if it has some important deficiencies.
