Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of geography visuals used in middle school social studies textbooks in creating geographic sense in students. The application of the research was realized with 66 students studying in Yusufça Middle School in the district of Gölhisar in the province of Burdur in the academic year of 2016-2017.The data of the study were collected by semi-structured interview form, questionnaire and questionary form. The forms for determining the geographical perception of the students in the geography textbook in the social studies textbook of the middle school and the answers they gave to the questionnaire were evaluated and the students' opinions were tried to be determined.According to the results of the survey, it was determined that the vast majority of the students remembered the geography images in the social studies textbook. It has been seen that students are more successful in associating visual items with visualizations and more easily remembering that they learn visualizations. The results of this research are important to us in that the images in social studies textbooks contribute to the learning of learners and their retention in learning.
