The basic knowledge and skills, such as reading, writing and knowing, which every educated and healthy individual must have, are not enough to be successful in today's competitive world. In order to be successful in today's world characterized by information society, information age and technology age, it has become compulsory to have knowledge-based Development and exchange skills, in other words, information literacy skills. The role of university libraries that support education and research cannot be denied by contributing to the goals of university education through information services in providing individuals with information literacy, including the skills of being aware of the need for information, searching, accessing, evaluating, using and sharing. This study aims to draw attention to the importance of a planned, programmed and systematic information literacy program to be given by university libraries to be ready university students for the information society. For this purpose, an information literacy program was created and applied to the sample group selected from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University students. At the end of the applied information literacy program, the level of achievement change of the students was measured and in line with the data obtained, suggestions for the purpose and content of user education given in university libraries were developed.
