Internet addiction of students research

Aim: To determine the internet addiction levels of high school students studying at private schools in Malatya and to examine them in terms of different variables. Materyal and Methods: The quantitative research method was used in this study, which was conducted to investigate the internet addiction levels of high school students. 1400 students attending private schools in Malatya province were included in the study. A scale form consisting of two parts was used to collect research data. In the first part, the Personal Information Form consisting of 11 questions prepared by the researcher, and in the second part, the Internet Addiction Scale, a six-point Likert-type scale consisting of 20 items, was used. Results: 54.1% of the students participating in the study were male, 32.1% were in the 11th grade, 79.9% had done sports before, 59.9% had done sports for 1-3 years. 81.4% of the students using the internet use the internet at home, 79.5% use the internet 7 days a week, 89.4% use the internet for 6 hours or less a day, and 22.9% use the internet for 7-8 years. There was no statistically significant relationship between internet addiction of students and their gender, class, doing sports and duration of doing sports. A positive and low level significant relationship was found between students' internet use places, their frequency of using the internet per week and in general, and how long they have been using internet. Conclusion: As a result of the research, no statistically significant difference was found in terms of students 'internet use and gender, class, previous sports activity and the duration of sports of the students who have done sports before, the students' internet addiction status was determined by the frequency of using the internet per week, the frequency of using the internet per day and It was determined that there is a statistically significant difference according to usage times and internet usage purposes.
