Investigating the reklationship between high school students' perception of quality of school life and school engagement levels

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between high school students' perception of quality of school life and school engagement levels. It was examined whether students' perceptions about quality of school life and students' school engagement levels differ depending on the factors such as gender, grade level and parents'educational level. Research data were collected from 990 students who attend Anatolian High School depending on Odunpazarı District National Education Directorate during the spring semester of 2017-2018 academic year through Quality of School Life Scale and Students School Engagement Scale and Personal Information Form. In the analysis of data, packaged software, sample t-test for independent groups, one way ANOVA and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis were used. Scheffe multiple comparisons test was applied to determine the sources of differences between levels of independent variables. The results indicated that high school students evaluated quality of their high school and the school engagement medium. The results also stated that there was no significant difference in students' opinions about quality of school life in high schools in terms of gender, fathers' educational level but there was a significant difference in students' opinions about quality of school life in high schools in terms of grade level and mothers' educational level. It was determined that there was no significant difference in students' thoughts about school engagement in terms of gender, mothers and fathers' educational level but there was a significant difference in terms of grade level. Finally, it was determined that there was a medium level and statistically meaningful relationship between the quality of school life in high schools and school engagement.
