Abstract (EN)

iiABSTRACTThe goal of this study is to determine the relationship between the level ofstudents? Maths anxiety and Maths performance by designating the connectionbetween the level of students? Maths anxiety and Math achievement with mother?sand father?s education, gender and class level.The aim of this study is to help experts in the survey which is done for thedevelopment of researches to make Maths programmes better in the world and inTurkey, and to help teachers to decrease the students? Maths anxiety and also to helpparents. In Math notes and anxiety measure have been used as the device of datumcollection.This study has been carried on 1130 students who attend 15 differentsecondary schools in the centre of Kırşehir.The findings of the study can be summarized as below:There is a significantdifference between the parents?education and the level of students? maths anxiety.The more educated parents are, the less anxiety the students have.There isn?t asignificant difference between the gender and the students? math anxiety. Theaverages of girls and boys Math anxiety points are very close to each other. Alsogirls? and boys? maths marks are very close to each other. It is understood from thisstudy that girls? Maths marks are higher in spite of their high anxiety. And the boys?maths marks are lower despite of the low anxiety.There is a significant relationship between the level of students? Mathsanxiety and the classes of the secondary school. Students have the most anxiety inthe 8th class. There is an important relationship(in a positive direction) between thelevel of the students? Maths achievement and the mother-father?s education. Themore educated the parents are, the more achievement students have. There is asignificiant difference between the level of the students? Maths anxiety and Mathachievement. There is a negative relationship between the level of the students?Maths anxiety and Maths achievement. Finally, the more anxiety students have, theless success in Maths they have.
