Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to investigate the relation between bullying behaviours and social media attitudes of secondary school students. The research was applied on 91 female and 94 male students – 185 students totaly – aged 13-14 from 8 public schools from Sancaktepe, İstanbul in 2013-2014 educational year. In this research, "Bully Behaviour Aptitude Scale" (Satan, 2006) was used to evaluate the bullying behaviour aptitudes of secondary school students and "Social Media Attitude Scale" (Otrar and Argın, 2013) was used to measure their attitudes towards social media sites. The currency was found as (r=.67) and reliability was found as (Cronbach alpha=.95) by Satan (2006) in Bully Behaviours Aptitude Scale. There have been four sub-dimensions of Bully Behaviour Aptitude Scale. These sub-dimensions are; Physical Bullying, Verbal Bullying, Bullying for Fun and Sentimental Bullying. The currency study (r=.83) and reliability study (Cronbach alpha=.85) of Social Media Attitude Scale were done by Otrar and Argın (2013). There have been four sub-dimensions Social Media Attitude Scale named; Need for Sharing, Social Capability, Social Isolation and Relationship with Teachers. As findings of the research were evaluated, at the end of the Pearson Multiplication Moments Correlation Analysis done to identify the relationship between sub-dimensions of Bully Behaviour Aptitude Scale and sub-dimensions of Social Media Attitude Scale, a negative relation has been found between the sub-dimensions Sentimental Bullying of Bully Behaviour Aptitude Scale and the sub-dimensions Need for Sharing of Social Media Attitude Scale. It can be generally said that, as sub-dimensions scores of Social Media Attitude Scale increase, sub-dimensions scores of Bully Behaviour Aptitude Scale decrease statistically in a meaning direction. The relationship among other sub-dimensions couldn't be found statistically meaningful.
