Abstract (EN)
Study investigates the impact of Frostig Visual Perception Training Program on the development of visual perception of dyslexic children. The sample group consisted of 20 children who are diagnosed as dyslexic (but don?t have any other disability) in several child psychiatry clinics. Out of 28 applicants, 20 were selected that attends first and second grade of primary schools. 10 children were used in experimental and the other 10 were utilized in control group. Before the training, Frostig Developmental Test of Visual Perception were administered both experimental and control groups and no significant difference found between groups in terms of visual perception skills.Frostig Visual Perception Training Program administered only to the experimental group by the researcher through 16 weeks (two days in a week, and an hour in a day). Frostig Developmental Test of Visual Perception were re-administered both experimental and control groups as post test. For the statistical analysis of the data Mann-Whitney U Test was used for in group and between groups comparisons. Wilcoxon Test was used to compare the test results that implemented before and after trainingComparison of experimental and control groups has indicated that experimental group has significantly progressed in terms of eye-motor coordination and perception of figure ground, constancy of shape, position in space, and spatial relationships. The analysis of experimental group?s pre and post test results revealed that experimental group has significantly developed in all dimensions of visual perception. In the control group any significant development has observed. As a result, study found that Frostig Visual Perception Training Program has positive impact on the development of visual perception of dyslexsic children.Key Words: Dyslexia, Visual Perception, Frostig Developmental Test of Visual Perception, Frostig Developmental Perception Training Program
