The viewpoints and readiness of academicians to the distance education: The case of Ordu University

In the study, the ideas about services and evaluations of the distance training of the academic staff at Ordu University have been received by using scanning model on the descriptive base. The answer to the questions about knowledge, experience, outlook of distance education of the lecturers and whether they re ready for the distance education and what they can contribute to the distance education structure include the topic of the study. It is thought that the obtaining of the ideas of the lecturers on the distance education structures can be effective in planing, improving and performing of the distance education and contribute to the literature as well. In the scope of the research, All of 640 lecturers on duty at Ordu University have ben reached through e-mail and their participation to the survey has been provided on line. The survep has been kept for some time and %28,4, totally 182 lecturers have voluntarily answered the survey. In the content of the study, the range of data has been reported for each question and the sections have been analized in different ways. SPPSS 22 and Excel 2013 packet programmes have been used in calculating, analysing, and tables and graphical displays. Athe end of the analysis conducted in the framework the study, The result is that the academic staff has already heard of the distance education but they have not had enough experience. The answers '' I agree or I don't agree '' in the view of the distance education are available but most of the answers are of '' I am pessimistic''. In the study it has pointed out that the majority of the lecturers support the distance training. Provided that they are to be informed about the distance education, their point of view of the distance education will develop positively. Even if they have enough theoratic knowledge they are not ready to apply the knowledge into practice, which leads to hesitation with the answers about availability. Whether the academic staff displaces differences according to their demographic features is also available in the study.
