An examination of the compliance of instructional technologies course content with the content definitions of the council of higher education (The case of İnönü University)

The content of the Instructional Technologies course is defined in a common way in the teacher training undergraduate programs and the Framework Procedures and Principles for Pedagogical Formation Education Certificate Program published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 2018. The main purpose of this study is to examine how the Instructional Technologies course contents are compatible with the course definitions of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). For this purpose, the Instructional Technologies course contents carried out through the learning management system (LMS) platform in the spring semester of 2022-2023 at İnönü University were examined. In the research designed according to the case study design, after obtaining the necessary ethical permissions and institutional approval, the course contents (videos, slides, lecture notes, etc.) of 7 instructors were obtained using the document review method. The data obtained were compared with 11 themes prepared by considering the course definitions of the Instructional Technologies course of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and analyzed by descriptive analysis method. When the results obtained are examined, it is seen that the instructors shared the most instructional content for the title "Instructional design as a tool and material", while they did not share instructional content for the title "Designing thematic instructional materials", although it is included in the course definitions of YÖK. The least amount of instructional content was shared for the titles "Theoretical approaches to instructional technologies", "Current literacies", "Creating a field-specific object warehouse" and "Instructional material evaluation criteria". Based on the results obtained, suggestions for new researchers were presented.
