The effect of educational technologies on the problem solving skill, learning and study strategies, science process skills, attitude and academic achievement of 5 grade primary school students in science and technology teaching

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of educational technologies and material supported science and technology teaching on the problem solving skills, learning and study strategies, science process skills and sucess and attitude of 5th grade primary school students. For this reason the software made for teaching the subjects of ? The World, Sun and Moon? unit of the science and Technology lesson was prepared with the Macromedia Flash 8 program. In this study, the effect of the this software on the problem solving skills, learning strategies, science process skills and sucess and attitude of 5th grade primary school students has been researched.The Primary School in Keşap, Giresun is the scope of this quasi experimental design study which is suitable fort he ? Pre-test , Post-test control group? model.The participants are 56 studenrs from the classes of Cumhuriyet Primary School of the 2009-2010 academıc year.For this research, as the data collection device, researchers used ?The Problem Solving Skills Scale?, ?Learning Strategies Scala?, ?Science Sucess and Attitude Scala? that developed by Serin, Serin & Saygılı (2010) for Level I students and the Science Process Skills Scale developt by Enger ve Yager (1998).In the analysis of the research data; arithmetic mean, standart deviation, Mann Whitney-U, ANCOVA and Wilcoxon tests was used to compare the pre-test, post-test results of the two groups.As a result of this research, it has been seben taht the applied program has not a positive influence on the problem solving skills, learning and study strategies, academic achievement, attitude, science process skills perception of 5 Grade Primary School Students in Science and Technology Teaching.Key Words: Constractivizm, Science and Technology Teaching, Science Process Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Learning and Study Strategies
