Role of cognitive emotion regulatory strategies in the relationship between cognitive flexibility and resilience levels of prospective teachers

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between cognitive flexibility and resilience and the mediating role of cognitive emotion strategies in this relationship. Accordingly, a research question was developed that"Do cognitive emotion regulation strategies have a mediating role in the relationship between cognitive flexibility and resilience?" The participants of thestudyare 336 undergraduate students studying at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Education. Personal Information Form, Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, Adult Psychological Resilience Scale and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale were used in the study. The basic statistical concepts (frequency analysis, mean, standard deviation, skewness-kurtosis, correlation and reliability) examined in the study were analyzed by the IBM SPSS Statistic 21 program, and the structural equation model was analyzed by the AMOS 24 program. According to the research findings, , there is a positive and significant relationship between cognitive flexibility and resilience level. While a positive and significant relationship was found between the level of resilience and positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies; A non-significant relationship was found with negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies.. There is a positive and significant relationship between cognitive flexibility and positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies; There is a negative and significant relationship with negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies. However, positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies are a partial mediator in the relationship between cognitive flexibility and resilience; partial mediator in the relationship between ability to produce alternatives and resilience level; It has a full mediator role in the relationship between the ability to control and the level of resilience. The research findings were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature and recommendations were made to researchers and practitioners for future studies.
