Analysis of teacher candidates 'Attitude and behavior regarding environmental literacy concept

The aim of the study is to examine teacher candidates' attitudes and behaviors regarding environmental literacy. Environmental education is of great importance in creating environmental literacy awareness. Particular attention should be paid to environmental education at an early age. It is seen that in primary education 6th, 7th and 8th grade curricula, environmental education is predominantly included in the Science curriculum. It is very important to examine and evaluate these programs in terms of ecology and environmental problems, and even add other branches to the curriculum in order to contribute to raising individuals with environmental literacy awareness and sensitivity (Özata Yücel, Özkan, 2014). Studies that will contribute to the development of awareness and positive behavior for environmental literacy are important. This study, conducted in line with this purpose, can contribute to revealing the attitudes and behaviors of teacher candidates towards environmental literacy and to determine what can be done to eliminate some of the incomplete or incorrect information during the education of pre-service teachers.
