Analysis of correlation between echocogical identities and responsible environmental behaviors of preservice teachers

The purpose of this study is to reveal the effect of some dynamic characters on the research of relationship among prospective teachers' ecological identities and responsible environmental behaviors. In accordance with this purpose , this research was conducted with survey model by 578 prospective teachers who studied in the Departments of Science Education, Social Sciences Education, Pre-school Education and Primary School Education in Kastamonu University in 2020-2021 education year. Ecological Identity Scale, Environmental Behavior Scale and Personal Information Form were applied to identify the level of prospective teachers' ecological identity and responsible environmental behaviors. Datas were anayzed by a statistic programme called SPSS 26. It was benefitted from descriptive statictics, t-test for unrelated samples, one way analysis for variance , correlation and regression anaysis. According to the results of this research, it is observed that prospective teachers' ecological identity levels are high, environmental behavior levels are medium. It is determined that some dynamic characters have effects on the ecological identity and environmental behavior levels. In the positive way and medium level reletionships were certained between prospective teachers' ecological identities and environmental behaviors. In addition to this, it is determined that prospective teachers' environmental behavior levels has a meaningful predictor on their ecological identity levels. Accordingto the results of the research, it is thought that it would be beneficial to provide an environmental education that will improve the responsible environmental behaviors of teacher candidates.
