Abstract (EN)

With the renewing of the program of science teaching, it is aimed that students will be more active. Regarding this aim, techniques convenient to constructivism have been tested. In achieving of the functions of this program, it is thought that teachers' roles; thereby teacher candidates' roles are very important. Therefore; in this study "The effects of peer instruction which is a technique used in recent years, is approved to be analyzed and in this stage it is also approved to study with the teacher candidates. In this study independent groups have been used. 128 teacher candidates attending to Inonu University Science education and primary school education sections in normal and evening education in 2011-2012 education year comprise the sample of the survey. The survey is an experimental study. Firstly, a pretest about the subject "gasses" has been applied and then according to the test results, experiment and control groups have been constructed. After that a lesson was applied according to the peer instruction technique in a class while in the other class it was applied in a classical method all at the same time. At the end of the two weeks period which is spared for the subject of gasses, a post-test was applied whether there is a fundamental difference between the groups applied pre-test and post-test. The findings obtained from the result of the survey are these: When the results of the pretest-last test of the experiment group and control group, not a significant difference is obtained in favor of experiment group. Although the marks of the experiment group applied peer education method increase in last test, not a significant difference is obtained from the last test of the control group applied traditional education method. Key words: Peer Education, Preliminary Test, His Test, Experiment Group, Control Group.
