Özet (EN)

The main objective of this study is to identify the frequency of displaying Effective Managership Behaviours of Anatolian High School Principals according to perceptions of the teachers and to reveal whether there are statistically significant differences among perceptions of the teachers according to teachers? personal characteristics.In this study, the general-survey model was used. The questionnaire used as a means of collecting data was prepared by Dağlı (2000). This questionnaire includes two parts. The data of this research was collected through the questionnaires administered to 1008 teachers working in the Anatolian High Schools in the European side of Istanbul in the term of 2007-2008. The data obtained was analyzed via some statistical techniques such as ?arithmetic mean?, ?standard deviation?, ?t-test?? and ?one-way anova?? by using the computer code of SPSS 11.5.The main consequence of this research is that the perception of the teachers regarding the frequency of displaying Effective Managership Behaviours of Anatolian High School Principals is revealed as ?usually?. It is determined that there is no statistically significant difference among perceptions of the teachers according to the factors of sex, seniority, duration of service at school and rewarding occasions. However, it is determined that there exists statistically significant difference among perceptions of the teachers regarding in-service education factor.To obtain the frequency of displaying Effective Managership Behaviours of Anatolian High School Principals as ?always?, appropriate working conditions must be supplied, strategy on the related subjects must be reviewed, regulations and legislations must be improved, better measurement criteria must be determined, educational requirements must be fulfilled. Short courses, seminars, conferences etc. on the effective managership behaviours and educational leadership must be held. Principals must inspect the lectures and supervise the teachers. Bureaucratic responsibilities of the principals must be reduced so that they may spent more time for their students and teachers, consequently, their role in coordination, management and inspection of the education must be enhanced.
