Physical education teacher specific to teacher transformation: From where to where

Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine the changes and transformations of the physical education teacher image over the years and to determine the factors that cause this change and transformation. Material and Method: In this research, case study (phenomenology) was used as qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of 22 physical education and sports teachers who retired in various times or are currently working in primary schools and high schools under MONE in 2016 and 2017. Semi-structured interview form consisting of 18 questions prepared by the researcher was used as data collection tool in the research. The data were analyzed using the Nvivo program. Findings: When the analysis results of the research data were examined, some differences appeared between the retired teachers and the currently working physical education teachers. Retired physical education teachers are more hard-working, self-sacrificing, disciplined, have good communication skills, have high individual skills and are more qualified at the same time; while physical education teachers, who are still working, have not tried out different ways to get their needs out of the possibilities offered to them and at the same time it is found that the teacher does not need self-improvement due to the system, the knowledge of the sporting field is inadequate even though the formation information is good, and that these teachers have weak dialogue and cooperation with the society and their own communities. Conclusion: As a result of the research, considering the date range of the research, the positive image of physical education teachers in the past has been adversely affected by the successive politics of the day. Ultimately, it can be said that the physical education teacher image has changed and undergone a negative transformation. Key Words: Physical Education Teacher, Transformation, Change.
