Abstract (EN)

The number of women in the workforce is increasing day by day, but it is not possible to confirm that they find enough space in high-level positions. In the literature, it is stated that some barriers, called the glass ceiling, prevent women from advancing in the workforce. These barriers affect the perspective of the profession as well as bring many problems with them in terms of organization. One of these problems is the decrease in the level of organizational commitment. Moreover, the existence of the problem can trigger many others for the business. The research was conducted to reveal the relationship between teachers' glass ceiling perceptions and organizational commitment. The population of the research consists of 400 teachers working in primary, secondary, and high schools in the city center of Artvin. The sample for the research consists of 179 teachers. The data used in the research were obtained through electronically completed and a face-to-face surveys. First of all, reliability, validity, and normality tests were performed on the collected data. Afterwards, independent sample t-tests, Kruskal-Wallis tests, Mann-Whitney-U tests, correlation, and regression analyses were performed to test the hypotheses of the research. The findings obtained from the research are briefly summarized as follows: There are significant differences between the glass ceiling syndrome means as per age and gender. There are also significant differences between organizational commitment means as per age, gender, and marital status. Correlation analysis confirms the existence of the relationship between these two variables. Regression analysis indicates that only the variable "Organizational Culture and Policies—Informal Communication Network," which is a sub-dimension of the glass ceiling syndrome, has an effect on organizational commitment. The research was concluded by comparing the analysis results with the findings of the studies in the literature.
