The analysis of the teachers? views on the use of instructional techonology in their classes

The purpose of this research is to identify at what point the teachers are in usinginstructional techonology in their classes including their own views directly. In thisresearch the following questions are discussed. Why do teachers use techonology intheir classes? Which techonology do they use for what purpose? Frow which resourcedo they using that techonology? Do they feel themselves sufficient enough to use thattechonology or not?Oualitative research technique is used in this research in order to reveal teachers'views on the use of technology in their classes in depthAn information form is used to obtain delailed information about the specifiedproblems in the research. Afterwords; the information form is published on the internetand the teachers are reached via e-mail. An e-mail message is sent to 1000 teachers toprovide their participation in the research; a return of 93 teachers is provided.Both descriptive and content analysis are used in data analysis. The structuredquestions in the information form show up the pre-determined themes fort hedescriptive analysis. As a result of the content analysis, some categories are formed onthe basis of similar responses. Upon forming the categories, frequency and percentageof each category are revealed.According to research findings, teachers use technology in their classes fort hereasons such as providing active learning and persistence of thet learning facilitation,quality learning and saving time. More of the teachers participating in our research usesa graphical calculator, database management sorftware, chat rooms, video conferencing,audio conferencing, expert systems, programming languages and simulationtechhnologies.
