Determining the level of educational technology usage of teachers: The case of Sakarya province

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the level of educational technology usage of teachers working in Sakarya province. The study is based on the descriptive survey model using quantitative methods. The sample of the study consists of random chosen 444 teachers working in high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education at Sakarya province during the academic year of 2017-2018. In the study, "The Scale of Determining the Levels of Information Technology Usage of Teachers" developed by Bayraktar (2015) was used and the data was analyzed by the SPSS 22.0 package program. Within the purpose of the research, it is concluded that the level of educational technology usage of teachers is high. According to the results of the study there were found significant differences between male and female teachers on the level of educational technology usage in favor of male teachers. The level of educational technology usage is higher for the teachers who have graduate education. The level of educational technology usage is higher for the teachers who have participated technology related in-service training programs as opposed to who did not. The level of educational technology usage is higher for the teachers working in high schools compared to the teachers working in other school types (kindergarten, primary school). There were found significant differences among groups in terms of age, professional experience and branch variables. Besides, there were found significant differences on the level of educational technology usage of teachers for the technologies they have personally and their schools have.
