Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between teachers' job satisfaction and quiet quitting behaviors. Materials and Methods: In this context, data were collected from 364 teachers working in public primary schools, middle schools, Anatolian high schools, and vocational high schools across Kütahya province during the fall semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. The data were collected using the Quiet Quitting Scale for Teachers, developed by Yılmaz, Arık, and Çelik (2024), and the Job Satisfaction Scale, originally developed by Hackman and Oldham (1975), adapted into Turkish by Silah (2002), and previously applied to teachers by Taşdan (2008). The research was designed using a survey model. Descriptive statistics were employed to identify teachers' perceptions of their job satisfaction and quiet quitting behaviors, while t-tests and one-way ANOVA were used for comparisons. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient was applied to determine the relationship between teachers' job satisfaction and quiet quitting behaviors. Results: The findings revealed that teachers generally described their job satisfaction as "moderately satisfying", indicating a medium level of job satisfaction overall. While no statistically significant differences were found in teachers' perceptions of job satisfaction based on gender, marital status, school type, educational background, or the number of students and teachers in the school, significant differences were observed in relation to age and years of professional experience. Teachers described their quiet quitting behaviors mostly as occurring "sometimes," indicating a moderate level of quiet quitting behavior. No statistically significant differences were found in teachers' perceptions of quiet quitting behaviors based on gender, marital status, school type, educational background, professional experience, or the number of students and teachers in the school; however, a significant difference was identified based on age. Conclusion: It was determined that there is a moderate, negative and significant relationship between the job satisfaction and silent resignation behaviors of the teachers who participated in the study.
