Abstract (EN)
In this research, the target is to demonstrate the relationship between the coaching skills of teachers and their demographical characteristics. The research was performed with 135 teachers working in state and private primary schools in Maltepe district of Istanbul province. Screening model was used in the research. As a data collecting tool, Personal Information Form and Teacher Coaching Skills Questionnaire, which were developed by the author and include demographical variables, were used. While assessing the findings obtained in the research, SPSS 17.0 program was used for statistical analyses. While assessing the research data, definitive statistical methods (e.g. Number, Percentage, Average, Standard deviation) were used and, as non-parametric tests, Kruskal Wallis-H Test, Mann Whitney-U Test and Spearman Correlation Analysis were performed. The results are within 95% confidence interval and the level of significance was evaluated as p<0.05 bi-directional. The findings of the research show that there is no significant difference between the coaching skills of a teacher and his/her gender, age, branch, level of education, seniority, membership in an occupational institution, grade level and type of school, that the teachers with high levels of income display greater solution-oriented skills and that the teacher receiving in-service training on coaching or communication skills have greater integrity-contingency skills. It was found that teachers display qualified communication skills the most and questioning skills the least. The findings show that there is a positive relationship between sub-dimensions.Keywords: Coach, Coaching, Coaching Skills of Teachers
