The relationship between levels of teachers' organizational socialization and identification with teachers' collective efficacy

The main aim of this research is to determine the relation among organizational socialization, organizational identification and colective efficacy of the teachers who are charged in high schools. Furthermore we have intended to determine if there is statistically meaningful differences among organizational socialization, organizational identification and collective efficacy of the teachers according to demographic variables and if organizational socialization and organizational identification are predictors of teachers' collective efficacy. The population of this relational survey research consists of 777 teachers, working in eighteeen high schools in provincial centre of Bolu in 2013-2014 academic year. All schools have been reached in the universe and 594 usable surveys have been gathered for this research. The datas in the research were collected from teachers via a scale. Four survey instruments were used in the research. The first one was personal inquiry form that was created for a short explanatory information about survey instruments and a collecting knowledge with respect to participants to survey. The other survey instruments were Organizational Socizalition Scale (Erdoğan, 2012), Organizational Identification Questionnaire (Çakınberk, Derin ve Demirel, 2011), Teachers' Colective Efficacy Questionnaire (Sünbül ve Arslan, 2006). Data was analyzed with SPSS 17 software. Analyzing the data, percentage, frequency, standart deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Tukey and Scheffe, correlation and regression analysis. According to results, teachers' views on levels of organizational socialization and collective efficacy are at 'agree' level. Also teachers' views on identification and internalization dimensions of organizational identification and collective efficacy are at 'agree' level. The dimension that has the lowest mean is social identity of identification with 'neither agree nor disagree' degree. Teachers' views on organizational socialization and organizational identification views with collective efficacy have analyzed by demographics variables. According to results, it is found that teachers' marital status have significant effect on teachers' levels of organizational socialization and organizational identification, and teachers' seniority at current school and gender have significant effect on collective efficacy. Teachers' seniority, age, type of their school have significant effect on teachers' levels of organizational socialization and organizational identification with collective efficacy, teachers' subjects and educational level have no significant effect. Furthermore, the number of educational hours per week has significant effect on organizational socialization and, organizational identification with teachers' collective efficacy; the number of students taught has significant effect on social identity. According to results, it is found that organizational socialization and organizational identification with collective efficacy have positive, statistically significant and medium level relationship. Organizational socialization and organizational identification are predictors of teachers' collective efficacy.
