Relationship between organizational socialization and person-environment fit of teachers (Zonguldak sample)

The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there is a relationship between the organizational socialization and person-environment fit of teachers in the primary education associations. For this purpose, the opinions of teachers working in the primary education associations in the Centre, Çaycuma, Devrek and Gökçebey districts of Zonguldak province in the second term of 2016-2017 educational year and in the first term of 2017-2018 educational year were gathered. In this population, there are totally 2810 teachers from 616 class teachers and 2194 other branch teachers. The number of the sample has been decided as 340-360 and the data have been found out by 340 valid scales as a result of implemented scales. Organizational Socialization Scale adapted into Turkish by Zonana and Teachers' Person-Environment Fit Scale improved by Demirkasımoğlu were used in this study. A data collection tool consisting of three sections was used in this study. In the first section, the personal information of the participants was given. The model of the research is a descriptive study which is based upon relational scanning model. In the statistical analysis of the gathered data; frequency, percentage, mean, standart deviation, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis H Test, Spearman rank differences correlation analysis and regression analysis were utilized. According to the results of the analysis; it has been found out that the organizational socialization level and perceptions about person-environment fit of teachers in the primary education associations are high, and a positive, mid level and statistically significant relation was determined between the organizational socialization level and perceptions about person-environment fit of teachers. It was established that the organizational socialization of teachers show an important precursor feature in having person-environment fit.
