The relationship between teachers' positive psychological capital levels and organizational cynicism levels

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between organizational psychological capital levels and organizational cynicism levels of teachers working in Antalya / Alanya was investigated. In the research, correlational design was used, which is one of the quantitative models. The sample of this research consists of 366 teachers. While determining the sample, at first teachers who works in Antalya/Alanya were stratified according to their grades, then the teachers were selected using by the simple random method. Organizational cynicism scale and organizational psychological capital scale were used to collect data. To make data analysis, mean, standart deviation, frequency, unrelated sample t-test, one way Anova, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, pearson correlation coefficient, and regression analysis were used. The cognitive cynicism and affective cynicism levels of male teachers are higher than female teachers. Between the ages of 30-39 teachers behavioral cynicism levels are higher than age 50 and over teachers. Teachers behavioral cynicism levels who have 6-10 years of working times are higher than who have 1-5 years and 26+ years of working times. The teachers organizational cynicism and behavioral cynicism levels who works in secondary schools are higher than high school teachers levels. Teachers affective cynicism levels who works in primary and secondary school are higher than high school teachers. The optimism, resilience, hope and self-efficacy levels of female teachers are higher than male teachers. Between ages of 20-29 teachers hope levels are higher than age 50 and over teachers. Teachers who married and who have children levels of organizational psychological capitals are higher than others. Teachers levels of organizational psychological capital, optimism, hope, resilience and self-efficacy who works in preschools are higher than who works in secondary schools. The teachers levels of organizational psychological capital, optimism, hope and self-efficacy who works in high schools are higher than who works in secondary schools. There are negative, low level significant correlations between organizational cynicism and organizational psychological capital levels. Teachers levels of organizational psychological capital, optimism, resilience, hope and self-efficacy decreases teachers levels of organizational cynicism. Optimism is important predictor variable of the cognitive, afficitive and behavioral cynicisim.
