Examination of teacher's self-efficacy level for technology adaptation

In this research, it is aimed to examine the self-efficacy levels of teachers for technology adaptation. Explanatory sequential design was used from mixed patterns in the study. The quantitative sample of the study consists of 432 teachers working at primary, secondary and high school levels in public schools in Sakarya province Adapazarı, Erenler, Serdivan and Arifiye central districts in the 2020-2021 academic fall semester and the qualitative sample consists of 22 teachers in total. The data of this research were obtained with the personal information form, the "Self-Efficacy Perception Scale for Technology Integration" developed by Wang, Ertmer, and Newby (2004) and adapted into Turkish by Ünal and Teker, (2018) and the interview form. For the purposes of the research, t test and ANOVA were used for independent samples to determine whether the total scores obtained from the scale differ to the independent variables. Qualitative data were presented by coding under themes by making content analysis. According to the quantitative findings obtained from the research, teachers' self-efficacy perceptions for technology adaptation are at a high level. When evaluated in terms of various variables, it was seen that teachers' self-efficacy levels for technology adaptation did not differ according to the working year in the sub-dimension of using technology; however, it was seen that there was a significant difference according to gender, branch, education level, school type and technology education. In the sub-dimension of using technology, it was determined that the self-efficacy perception levels of teachers for technology adaptation did not differ according to gender and education level, but there was a significant difference when evaluated in terms of factors such as working year, branch, school type and technology-oriented education. According to the results of the analysis of the qualitative data, opinions about teachers' self-efficacy for technology adaptation were obtained according to various demographic variables.
