Okçuzâde Mehmed Şâhî ve Münşeatı: Münşe'âtü'l-İnşâ (Analysis-Text)

The münşeât of Okçuzade Mehmed Şahî -who is considered as one of the important writers of the 17th century- is one of the works of the peak period of the münşeât genre in Turkish literature. This thesis, which deals with Okçuzade and his münşeât, consists of an introduction and five chapters. In the study, information about the type of Münşeât was given in general, Okçuzade's life was discussed and Münşe'âtü'l-inşâ was examined in terms of literature. In the first chapter, besides the main sources used in the thesis, the aim and method of the study are emphasized. In the second part, the concepts such as letter, prose, construction, and münşî about the münşeât genre are discussed in the theoretical framework, and the historical development of these genres and their place in Turkish literature are emphasized. Then, as it is related to the subject, brief information about the Ottoman münşeât tradition and diplomacy is given. In the third chapter, the life of Okçuzade Mehmed Şahî; scientific, mystical and literary personality are discussed. In this section, in line with the biographical information contained in the introduction of Münşe'âtü'l-inşâ, the works of the tezkire type and different sources related to the subject were searched and the clues were tried to be caught. In the fourth chapter, the work is analysed in terms of language, style and content. In this section, which can be considered as an examination of the place of Münşe'âtü'l-inşâ in literature, language and morphological features are examined; sources, terms, quotations from verses and hadiths were tried to be determined. An examination of the münşeât in terms of its content has been made and its place in the literature has been revealed. Manuscripts of the work in Turkey and in the world were examined in detail, and the works that were registered as Okçuzâde's Münşeât in the catalogues but that should be evaluated outside of Münşeâtü'l-inşâ were determined. By examining the copies of the work, it has been determined that there are 96 letters in total, and the titles and sequences of these letters in the copies are given in tables. In the fifth and last part, the comparative text has been tried to be revealed by considering the Istanbul University Library 3105, Tire Necip Paşa Library 372 and Egyptian National Library 149 copies, which are determined as the three largest copies of the manuscript. In cases where these three copies were not sufficient, other copies were also applied. A dictionary has been added to the end of the thesis in order to make the text easier to understand.
