Analysis of out-of-school learning environments guidebooks in terms of primary school mathematics curriculum outcomes

Abstract (EN)

In many subjects such as students' access to knowledge, 21st century skills, and positive attitudes towards science; It is not seen as a realistic expectation that the schools providing education in a certain place and time are sufficient to meet all the interests and needs of the students. In this study, out-of-school learning environments were examined in terms of primary school mathematics lesson outcomes and it was aimed to use these environments more effectively in education. This study, which examines the relationship between the out-of-school learning environment guides prepared by the provincial national education directorates and the primary school mathematics curriculum, was carried out with the qualitative research method, and the research was handled within the framework of the case study approach, one of the qualitative research designs. The out-of-school learning environment guides examined in the research were obtained from the websites of the provincial national education directorates. Out-of-school learning environment guides of 75 provinces that carried out the study within the scope of the Out of School Learning Environments Project were examined. The "city-outcome-place and necessary explanations" sections of the primary school mathematics curriculum obtained from the guides were subjected to content and descriptive analysis by the researchers, and more detailed categories were tried to be reached with the codes created. According to the results of the research, it was seen that the sub-learning areas of the primary school mathematics curriculum and the "historical and cultural places" from the out-of-school learning environments matched at a higher frequency. In the out-of-school learning environment guides, the sub-learning area with the most outcomes matches was the sub-learning area of geometric objects and shapes. The province with the highest number of learning outcomes matched in out-of-school learning environment guides is Denizli. It is thought that more studies on out-of-school learning environments, which are seen to be related to the mathematics curriculum, will contribute to the field.
