Teachers' views on the relationship between school effectiveness and positive psychological capital

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between positive psychological capital and school effectiveness within the context of public and private schools. Relational screening model was implemented in the research. The target population of the research consists of 1296 teachers working in official public secondary schools and private secondary schools in the Tepebaşı District of Eskişehir in the academic year 2018-2019. The research sample consists of 734 teachers selected by stratified ratio sampling method. The research data were collected by "Psychological Capital Scale" and "Effective School Scale". In order to test the construct validity of Effective School Scale and Psychological Capital Scale, R package program "Lavaan" was used for confirmatory factor analysis. The data were analysed through SPSS 26 software program. Descriptive and inferential statistics including mean, T-test, correlation coefficients, multiple variance analysis, regression analysis were implemented. According to the findings of the study, there was a statistically significant relationship only between private school teacher' self-efficacy perceptions and effective school administrator dimension. It was also revealed that there was a positive relationship between the psychological resilience, self-efficacy perceptions of private school teachers and the effective school teacher dimension. According to the findings about teachers working in public schools, as their extraversion and hope levels increase, their perception of effective school administrators increases, too. It was found that there was a positive significant relationship between the optimism and hope levels of the teachers working in public schools and the effective school teacher dimension.
