Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to determine the degree of implementation of leadership approaches of school principals and their effect on teacher performance. Scales and variables in the survey study and leadership approaches and application degrees of teachers were tested. The population of the study consists of teachers working in public schools in the European side of Istanbul in 2018-2019 academic year. The sample of the study is 295 teachers selected by simple random sampling method in schools located on the European side of Istanbul. The questionnaires were analyzed and it was found that visionary leadership, ethical leadership and learner leadership behaviors were effective on teacher performance. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that learner leadership behavior was more effective on teacher performance besides visionary and ethical leadership. In this direction, it was revealed that school administrators should have learner leadership behaviors. Principals make schools successful. In order for education to reach the set goals, schools should be managed by the most appropriate school administrators. The attitudes and behaviors of the school administrators affect the motivation and success of the teachers and students in the school. Principals who are principals of the school should demonstrate learner leader behaviors that can meet the expectations of teachers and students
