Examination of the relationship between school principals' trust in teachers and teachers' job satisfaction

The purpose of this research is to explore the relationship between school principals' trust in teachers and teachers' job satisfaction, from the perspectives of teachers. In this research, causal compartive design, one of quantitative research approaches, was utilized. The sample of the study consists of 330 teachers working at public schools from primary, secondary and high school levels, located in the central districts of Ankara. For data collection, two scales "School Principals' Perceived Trust in Teachers" and "Job Satisfaction Scale for Teachers" were used. Prior to the data analysis, assumtion checks were made. It was observed that normal distribution of the variables were not maintained. To remedy this, Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal-Wallis H Test were conducted. In addition, Spearman Correlation test was done. The data analysis revealed that school principals' trust in teachers and the job satisfaction of the teachers significantly differed in terms of some variables (gender, education level, etc.) but any significant difference was not observed for some variables (staff status, working time with the principal, etc.). Finally, according to the opinions of the teachers, it was observed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the trust of the principals in teachers and the job satisfaction of the teachers. As a result, it was concluded that as the principals' trust in teachers is likely to increase, teachers' job satisfaction is also likely to increase.
