Analysis the effect of project based learning to the intuitive mathematics capabilities at children group of age 6 that are continuing preschool education institutions

In this study, it is analyzed that the effect of project based learning to the intuitive mathematics capabilities, at children group of age 6 that are continuing preschool education institutions. The study is carried out at Papatya Kindergarten and Sardunya Kindergarten that are linked to Ministry of National Education in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul. In order to research the effect of project based learning to the intuitive mathematics capabilities, a test group and a control group have been established. Totally 112 children have been included in this study. This research has been done with 56 children; as test group 24 girl and 32 boy from Papatya Kindergarten; as control group 22 girl and 34 boy from Sardunya Kindergarten. Before the experimental processes and at the end of the experimental process, intuitive mathematics capability test (IMCT) was implemented as a pre-test and lasttest. While project based learning program was being implemented to the test group, traditional education program was carried out to the control group. All statically analysis of the research has been done with SPSS 13.0 Windows package program. The result of the analysis is the level of intuitive mathematics ofthe test group that educated by the project based learning approach is much higher than the group that educated by the traditional learning approach. This result shows that project based learning approach is more effective than the traditional learning approach in the process of improvement of intuitive mathematics capability.
