The Study Of Self-Concepts And Parental Attitudes Of 3rd Grade Students Who Attended And Who Did Not Attend Preschool Education The purpose of this study is to investigate self-concepts and parental attitudes ird of 3 grade students who attended and who didn't attend pre-school education. The sample of the study consist of 560 3rd grade students from 13 separate public secondary schools in Ankara. In order to determine self-concepts of students Piers-Harris Children's Self- Concept Scale was applied. Parental attitudes of students were measured by Parental Attitudes Scale which was developed by Polat. The other measure used in the study is a Personal Information Form which was developed by the researcher for this research. In the study, self-concepts an parental attitudes of students were compared by Pearson correlation coefficient. In order to compare groups and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were applied. When the difference of groups were significant, schefee test was used to determine the source of difference. Overall results of the study revealed that there is a significant difference between self-concept levels of 3rd grade students who attended and who did not attend preschool education in the favor of students attended preschool education. Results indicated that there is a significant difference between parental attitudes of 3rd grade students who attended and who did not attend preschool education in the favor of students attended preschool education. Results also indicated that the students whose parents had democratic attitudes had higher scores oh self concept scale.IV Finally, results showed that there is a negative significant relationship between self-concepts and both mothers' and fathers' attitudes of students who attended preschool education. The correlation of self-concepts and mothers' attitudes of students who attended preschool education was. The correlation of self-concepts and fathers' attitudes of students who attended preschool education was. On the other hand, according to results there is also a negative significant relationship between self-concepts and both mothers' and fathers' attitudes of students who did not attended preschool education. The correlation of self-concepts and mothers' attitudes of students who didn't attended preschool education was. The correlation of self- concepts and fathers' attitudes of students who didn't attended pre-school education was. These results indicate that parental attitudes of students who attended pre-school education were more democratic than of students who did not attended preschool education.
