Abstract (EN)

Pre-school education, as one of the basic determinants in the learning phase of students as to life in their first years, has gained importance especially in recent years. Science education is also significant for the students in this period and the development of scientific thinking in pre-school age is only possible through a science education program prepared in a sophisticated way. In order to plan the science education based on the requirements of the child, the significance of science education in pre-school education should be well-apprehended. Teachers play important roles in the acquirement of science education in pre-school period. Usually, the attitudes of the students towards science education are in parallel with teachers? attitudes 'and if teachers? attitudes towards scientific work are positive, the children take these attitudes as role models for themselves. This study, intends to reveal the attitudes of teachers towards pre-school science education and the methods they use, it has been attempted to determine the views of the teachers on science education through a survey study conducted.This research intends to analyze the attitudes of preschool teachers for science education and the methods they apply in science activities. The workgroup of the research is composed of 85 preschool teachers from Şaphane, Simav, Gediz districts of Kütahya, under the Ministry of National Education, during 2008-2009 academic year.
