Investigation of relationship between pre-school teachers' liking of children levels and communication skills

The purpose of this research study is to investigate the relationship between pre-school teachers' liking of children levels and communication skills. Because the research is about detecting of the existing relationship relational screening model is used. The population of the research consists of 317 pre-school teachers who work in independent and private kindergarden, elementary school, junior high school and high school in 2014-2015 academic year in Province Aksaray. However the study is conducted with 304 pre-school teachers who filled the scales properly. Data collection tools used in the research are the Teacher-Child Communication Scale, to determine the levels of communication between the teacher and the child, and Barnett's Liking of Chilren Scale, to determine teachers' levels of liking of children and personal information form, to determine teachers'demographic information. In order to describe the general characteristics of the population descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage calculations are used. In order to measure the relationship between linking of children and teacher-child communication the analysis of Spearman rank correlation is used. At the end of the study it is seen that the variable of teachers' reasons for prefering the job makes difference on teachers' liking of children levels and communication skills. This difference is for the good of the group "I prefered this job due to the fact that I love children". Moreover it is seen that communication skills change depending on the age variable and this difference is for the good of the group "41 years", other variables don't make significant difference on liking of children levels and communication skills. It is determined that there is a middle level, positive and significant relationship between teachers' liking of children levels and communication skills. Teaching profession can be based on child-loving and communication skills. Key words: Child, Linking of children, Communication skills, Pre-school teacher
