Describing the cultural and psychological capital of preschool teachers in terms of different demographic variables

The purpose of this study was to describe the cultural and psychological capital of preschool teachers in terms of demographic variables and to reveal the relationship between these two variables. The study is a quantitative research designed with a correlational survey method, and a convenient sampling method has been used. A total of 511 preschool teachers, consisting of 412 females and 99 males, participated in the study. In the scope of the study, scales developed and adapted to measure teachers' cultural and psychological capital competencies were utilized. Cultural Capital and Psychological Capital Scale, which consists of four sub-dimensions, was used in the research. In addition to these scales, information about the participants was using a 15-item demographic questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed through Independent Sample T-Test and ANOVA for the comparison of means, and the relationship between cultural and psychological capital competencies was revealed by Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for both scales to provide validity evidence for the research findings. According to the research findings, preschool teachers' cultural capital competencies have shown significant differences based on their gender, the geographical region of the university they graduated from and their parental education level. According to the research findings, preschool teachers' psychological capital competencies have shown significant differences based on their gender, age, mother's education level, the geographical region of where the university they graduated from, years spent in the proffession, the geographical region of the school they work, the status of the school as a public or private, preschool education institution category, service region and area, and parental education level. Finally, a positive, high-level, and significant relationship was found between preschool teachers' cultural and psychological capital competencies.
