Investigation of the relationship between preschool teachers' opinions about problem behaviors and children's problem behaviors

In this study, it was aimed to examine the problem behaviors of 54-66 month-old children who are continuing preschool education in the classroom, and their teachers' views on problem behaviors in terms of gender, pre-school education status and socio-economic level. The research was carried out with relational screening model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The working group was determined by 58 sampling teachers and preschool children (234) in their classrooms in schools affiliated to Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of National Education with appropriate sampling method. The "Personal Information Form" created by the researcher was used to collect the research data. The questionnaire of "Preschool Teachers' Views on Behavioral Problems of Children Between 36-72 Months" was developed by Yumuş (2013). The "Problem Behavior Scale", which was developed by Kenneth W. Merrell in 1994, and whose validity and reliability study was performed by Okyay (2008) and translated into Turkish, was applied. According to the findings of the study, it was observed that preschool teachers got high scores from the children's opinions about problem behaviors questionnaire. According to the seniority, age, gender of the children, pre-education status and socio-economic status of the teachers, it was seen that the teachers' definition, evaluation, behavior management and classroom management views did not differ significantly. It was determined that the behaviors of children showing problem behaviors differed according to gender, but they did not differ according to their pre-school education and socio-economic status. As a result of the examination of the relationship between the opinions of the teachers about problem behaviors and the display of problem behaviors of children with correlation analysis, no significant relationship was found.
