The evaluation of school stakeholders' perceptions' forms about school organizations with the help of metaphors

The aim of this study was to determine how school stakeholders perceive schools as being an organization by metaphors. For this purpose,this study tried to find out how schools are perceived through the views of inspectors,school administrators and teachers by metaphors.Metaphors are the analogies which are used to make concepts that can not be expressed in words and are difficult to comprehend more comprehensible or enrich the meanings of the concepts that are expressed.During the data analysis,frequency distribution,mean values and the significance of independent variables were analyzed. T-Test and One-way Anova statistical analyses were used while analyzing these values.The target population of this research,which is in descriptive relational scanning model, consists of elementary and secondary schools situated in the city centre of Gaziantep.In this research, non-proportional cluster sampling method was used.In this situation,the clusters having the same features within themselves were accepted as schools and 195 schools and 6207 teachers were considered as the target of the study.423 people (37 inspectors) from 14 schools constituted the sample.At the end of the study, school is mostly likened to family, tree, bee hive, dam, science center, rose garden, sun, life, library, forest, compass and soil metaphors. Schools are likened to home, factory, theater, nest, state, ocean and heaven metaphors at average level, and negatively to hell, cave, morgue, servage regime, ivory tower, exchange market, back streets, circus, hotel, prison, minefield and north pole, and objectively to museum, military unit, hippodrome, palace, shelter, camp, brom, classroom and heaven metaphors. At the end of the research 93 metaphors were generated associated with schools.
