A examination of school administrators attitudes towards to physcial education according to certain variables

The aim of this study is to analyze the attitude of school administrators, working at National ministerial schools, toward physical education in terms of some variables and identify attitude of school administrators based on datas obtained, offer possible solutions in the light of generated outcomes. As a research model, combined method in which qualitative and quantitative methods was used simultaneously was applied. While depictive method was adopted from quantitive research methods in research methods, case study pattern was adopted from qualitative research methods. For quantitive researches, 360 school administrators working at central schools and for qualitative researches according to maximum variety sampling, 20 school administrators working at central schools in Malatya consisted of research group was developed. As a data collection tool, "School administrators Physical Education Lesson Attitude Scale" developed by a researcher was used at quantitive data collection, but Interview form was used which is consisted of eleven questions half structured at qualitative data collection. Content analysis was carried out for qualitative datas at data analyses: on the other hand, Kruskal Wallis H test and Mann Whitney U test was carried out and a=0,05 was chosen as a meaningfulness level for quantitive datas. In this research "School administrators Physical Education Lesson Attitude Scale" was developed. According to the results of explicative factor analysis of scale and confirmative factor analysis, the scale was found to be single dimensional. In quantitive finding of research, it wasn't found any difference between points at statistical meaning concerning school administrators age, educational background, employment years, management employment years, management appointment states, type of management duty at school, their branches, type of school they work,the number of students at school,present physical education teacher state, whether they do sport or not, present roofed sport hall and success state among schools (p>0,05). Qualitative finding of research was gathered under three main concepts concerning the situation of physical education teacher and school administrators,situation of physical education spare time activities at school ve implicit effect of physical education lesson. As a result, it was found that attitude of school administrators were positive toward physical education lesson but also it was seen that there were school administrators who had negative opinions. The school administrators who have positive opinions stated that physical education lesson is one of the most important lesson and makes important contributions to student's socail, emotional, physical,mental development. In addition to this, it was observed that school administrators who are in positive attitude toward physical education are in several negative attitudes because of the teacher. It was also found why school administrators in negative attitude don't want physical education lesson is that they don't want noise and pother at school.
