Relationship between leadership behaviors of school administrators and organizational commitment levels of teachers (Sample of Bucak/Burdur)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between leadership behaviors of school administrators and organizational commitment levels of teachers according to teachers' views. Relational scanning model is used in the study. The population of the study consists of 897 teachers working in the public schools in Bucak district of Burdur province in 2015 - 2016 academic year. Since Bucak is relatively a small town and it was important to achieve more comprehensive results, sample selection was skipped to reach the entire universe. For this purpose, the surveys were delivered by the researcher to all teachers working in the statel schools in Bucak. Two Likert type questionnaires were used to collect the study data. Firt one was "Leadership Behaviors Ouestionnaire" and the second one was "Organizational Commitment Scale". The implementation of the questionnaires was completed in June 2016. Means and standard deviations were calculated for each sub-problem of the study. The t-test, ANOVA, LSD test and Pearson Correlation Coefficient technique were all used for the analysis of the data. Findings indicate that teachers view their administrators leadership behaviors at medium level. There is a significant difference between these views with respect to the type of school they attended and the level of their education. Teachers stated that they are committed to their organization. Teachers' levels of organizational commitment significantly differed with respect to the duration of their service at the school, the type of school they work at, the type of bachelor' degree they have, and their education level. There is a high positive relationship between the leadership behaviors of school administrators and the organizational commitment levels of the teachers.
