Examination of the opinions of school administirators on school sports in terms of various variables

Purpose: This research aims to assess school administrators' attitudes towards school sports and highlight the significance of their roles in this field. Additionally, it seeks to determine if these attitudes vary based on gender, age, years of service, location of their workplace, and the type and educational level of the school. Method: The study's population consists of administrators from primary and secondary educational institutions. The sample includes 271 administrators (217 men and 54 women) working in Erzurum's primary and secondary educational institutions during the 2022-2023 academic year. The data collection method employed was purposive sampling. Data were gathered through Google Forms and analyzed using parametric tests in SPSS v26.0. The evaluations of school sports by the participants were analyzed using the independent group t-test and one-way ANOVA, with a significance threshold set at p<0.05, considering variables like gender, age, educational level they serve, seniority, residential location, and school type. Findings: In this study examining the views of school administrators on school sports, it was found that their views on the development of school sports, its benefits, and overall scale scores ranged between X: 4.06 and X: 4.50 across various variables. These findings suggest that school administrators generally have a positive outlook towards school sports. Conclusion: When examining the views of school administrators on school sports across various variables, it was observed that their views significantly differ based on gender and years of service, but not significantly on age, the educational level of the school they work in, location, and type of school. These results underscore the importance of school sports from the perspective of school administrators. The positive views of school administrators towards school sports are likely to contribute to the development of sports in secondary education institutions and in our country in the future.
