The predictive power of school administrators' anxiety about exercising authori̇ty on school

The purpose of this research is to determine the predictive power of school administrators' anxiety about exercising authority at primary, secondary and high school levels on school climate. For this purpose, first of all, the anxiety levels of school administrators regarding the use of authority and the opinions of educators about the school climate were identified. In addition, it was identified whether the demographic characteristics of the educators had an impact on their perceptions, and the predictive power of anxiety over the use of authority on the school climate was examined. The research was conducted with school administrators and teachers working in primary, secondary and high schools in the districts of the Anatolian side of Istanbul. Since the study is a quantitative research, "School Administrators' Exercise of Authority Anxiety Scale" and "School Climate Scale" were used. SPSS 24 program was used to analyze the data. In the study, it was determined that there was a moderately significant relationship between school administrators' anxiety about exercising authority and school climate. It was also revealed that anxiety about exercising authority positively predicted school climate. According to the research, administrators and teachers' perceptions of the school climate vary depending on gender, professional seniority, age and the type of school they work in. The anxiety of school administrators about exercising authority does not differ according to the gender, professional seniority, age, type of duty and school where teachers and administrators work.
