The effect of managerial resourcefulness of school administrators on organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behaviors and job satisfaction levels of teachers

Abstract (EN)

The general aim of this research is determining the effect of managerial resourcefulness levels of primary school administrators on organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behaviors and job satisfaction levels of primary school teachers. The target population of this research, which is in descriptive relational scanning model, consists of 505 (principals and vice principals) school administrators and 4215 teachers working in primary schools in the city of Tokat in the 2009-2010 academic year. The sample of the research consists of 218 school administrators and 827 teachers who were selected randomly from the target population with simple cluster sampling method. The questionnaires that were completed by 218 school administrators and 827 teachers were returned back and analyzed. Data were analyzed by hierarchical multiple linear regression method.According to results of the basic analysis, it revealed that the school administrators have ?medium? managerial resourcefulness levels and there are no meaningful differences between their managerial resourcefulness levels and independent variables such as their genders, education levels, ages and managerial seniorities.As a result of the multiple hierarchical regression analysis, it was seen that teachers? organizational commitment levels positively predict their organizational citizenship behaviors and job satisfaction levels. The results of the mediation tests show that job satisfaction is a partial mediator of the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviors and organizational commitment.According to another result, school administrators? managerial resourcefulness competencies significantly and positively predict teachers? organizational citizenship behaviors, job satisfaction and organizational commitment levels. Also, it was seen that administrators? managerial resourcefulness levels strongly, significantly and positively predict teachers? organizational citizenship behaviors, job satisfaction and organizational commitment levels. The results of the mediation tests show that job satisfaction is a partial mediator of the relationship between managerial resourcefulness and organizational commitment. Further, job satisfaction is a partial mediator of the relationship between managerial resourcefulness and organizational citizenship behaviors. Also, both job satisfaction and organizational commitment are partial mediators of the relationship between managerial resourcefulness and organizational citizenship behaviors.Key Words: Managerial Resourcefulness, Competencies, Organisational Commitment, Organisational Citizenship Behaviours, Job Satisfaction.
