Abstract (EN)

This study, was carried out to examine views of preschool teachers and classroom teachers on the educational activities implemented in museums, and to see whether their views differ in according to their gender, types of their schools and their branches. This research is a screening model of survey which aimed to identify teachers' experiences and views on the activities implemented in the museum according to frequency of visits to museums in terms of various demographic variables. "Opinions of Preschool Teachers and Classroom Teachers Regarding to Education Activities in Museums Survey" was executed. Research study group was consisted teachers who work for state and private preschools, and elementary schools, related to Ministry of National Education, located within the boundaries of European side of Istanbul in 2013-2014 academic year and participated museum events previously. 25 school had been identifed by trying to reach the entire universe consisting of 650 teachers, and disproportionate cluster random sampling method was carried out within a total of 20 schools. Survey was carried out with in total of 320 teachers including 224 teachers work for state institutions, 96 teachers work for private institutions. Survey results were analyzed with SPSS 15.0 statistical program. The obtained data on teachers' views on the activities carried out in the museums evaluated according to gender, type of school and branch. And, variations was determined for the each three variables.. Male teachers are considerably more likely than female teachers, teachers working for state institutions are considerably more likely than teachers working for private institutions, and preschool teachers considerably are more likely than classroom teachers to agree on more items related to museum events. Altough teachers support the education activities in museums and the idea of museums trips should be put into curriculums, it was observed that they are reluctant to take part in extra work at the museum events.
