Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine the role of family and school in the selection of the upper secondary school students based on the opinions of the guidance teachers, parents and students. Quantitative method is used in the research and it is prepared in the descriptive scanning model. In the academic year of 2016-2017, the study area of the research is constituted by the guidance and guidance teachers, parents and students who are working in official and private high schools in the provinces of Antalya, Kepez, Muratpaşa and Konyaaltı. Easy accessibility has been taken into account in the creation of the working universe. It is easy to access the workspace. In the selection of schools and participants, non-random sampling techniques are used for sampling purposes. In this study, open ended questionnaires were used as data collection tools. KohenKappa coherence coefficient was found to be calculated at 0.9 level. Participatory confirmation of research findings is provided. According to the results obtained from the research; when I examined the factors that played a role in the selection of the students, it was seen that "my family followed my preference and the third place was the closest". According to this study, when the criteria that high school seniors attach importance to the choice of profession are examined; it is stated that the students pay a substantial amount of money according to their importance, secondly their interests and talents, and then they consider prestige and respectability criteria. When the opinions of the students about the role of the family in the selection of profession are taken; many of the students stated that their family had a greater role than others, some of the participants did not like the profession that their family would choose, and some of them were free to choose their profession. In view of the opinions of the pupils 'parents' attitudes towards the choice of profession, it is stated that most families are released and that the final decision is to leave students, some families pretending to be free and still try to persuade the child to his profession. The reactions of the students to the attitudes of their parents were found to have the absolute majority decision. When the opinions of the students about the professional orientation activities in the school are examined; most students find their activities inadequate and some are pleased with the activities. When the views of the parents on the role of the family in the selection of profession are examined; it is stated that the parents consider their role very much in choosing the profession. When we look at the priorities of the parents choosing the profession; in the first place the child is in his own preference, the second is the material gain and the third is the prestige. When the attitudes of the parents to the occupational choice are examined; most of the parents say that they "listen to my child and only direct" and that the nearest number is "guidance if the parents are not sure of their preference". When the opinions of the parents on the professional orientation activities of the school are examined; some were found to be adequate and some were found to be inadequate with close proportions of the parents. It is seen that the guidance teachers in general have considered that they fulfill the function of professional orientation when the opinions of the students regarding the jobs and operations carried out by the school in the selection of the profession are examined. In this research, the prospect of career choice for the family and school students was put forward. The school (Guidance Teacher) and parents should be aware of this precept and, when assessing the students, guide them to well-defined areas of interest and ability. When parents choose their profession for their children, they should not pressure it; school and family should work in a business association on the choice of profession. Keywords: Occupation selection, Occupational guidance, Occupation choice school, Occupation choice family, Occupational orientation.
