Antennas must provide specifications which are required according to application area. These specifications defined as performance parameters to apply all antennas. Three of these parameters are emphasized more than others in the scientific literature. These are impedance matching, radiation pattern and radiation efficiency. Altough, these three parameters are empehasized frequently, being in acceptable value range of one of the three parameters for the study frequency range is shown sufficient in many scientific studies. However, to accept an antenna as working for a frequency range, the three performance parameters must be in acceptable value range for the frequency range. This condition is defined as intersection of successful antenna performance parameters. Antenna impedance matching is the first performance parameter coming to mind and which is make to accept antenna as working. However, to accept an antenna as working, along the impedance matching, radiation pattern form of the antenna must be preserved and radiation efficiency must be in the acceptable value range for the frequency range. Preserving radiation patern form of an antenna is got difficult for broad frequency ranges. Currents flowing on the antenna are traveling in different modes for broadband frequency ranges. This condition causes deterioration on the radiation xvi pattern of antenna. To preserve antenna radiation pattern form, antenna geometrical dimensions must be chosen to support different modes which provide the antenna radiation pattern form. Another reason of the antenna radiation pattern deterioration is interferant radiation of the common mode current which occurs because of the antenna geometry which is unbalanced. To overcome this problem, antenna geometry must be chosen as abalanced geometry and unbalance to balance transformer between unbalanced coaxial line and balanced antenna. In this thesis study, UWB microstrip omnidirectional antenna designed according to provide intersection of successful antenna performance parameters.
