Success stories of Turkish athletes WHO won the olympic medal

Aim: The aim of this research was to explore, conceptualize and explain the success stories of Turkish athletes who won medals in different branches at the Olympics. Thus, the goal of the reseacrh was to create a success map within the sport participation at Olimpic level. Material and Method: Qualitative Research Method was adopted. Data were collected by using a semi-structured interview form with nine Turkish athletes who won medals in the Olympics. Data were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Results: The findings were evaluated under two headings: (a) Sport Participation stories of Turkish Athletes who Won Medals in the Olympics, and (b) Success Stories of Turkish Athletes who Won Medals in the Olympics. In the analyses, the motivating factors for sport participation (Physical Education and Sports Teacher, Popular Role Model, Peer Group, Family Support and Challenge) and the motivating factors for sport sccsess at Olimpic level (Popular Role Model, National and Spiritual Emotions, Challenge and Difficulty for Participate in the Olympics) were emerged in the stories of athletes. National and Spiritual Emotions Theme was the most emphasized theme in the success motivation of the athletes. In addition, the themes of Popular Role Model and Challenge were determined as the themes that are effective in both sport participation and being successful in sports branches. Conclusion: As a result, although it is known that the main goal of the athletes is the success in their careers, the motivating factors in the success processes vary.
