Development and implementation study of attitude scale towards the olympic games

The current study aims to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the attitudes of university students towards the Olympic Games. In addition, the developed measurement tool aims to investigate whether there are differences in students' attitudes towards the Olympic Games according to their demographic characteristics. In the study, a mixed model in which qualitative and quantitative models were used together was applied. The population of the study consisted of teaching students at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Faculty of Education and Faculty of Sports Sciences in the 2022-2023/2023-2024 spring and fall semester. In the scale development phase of the research, the study group for explanatory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis consisted of 364 teaching students. In the phase of investigating whether there is a difference in students' attitudes towards the Olympic Games according to their demographic characteristics with the developed measurement tool, the participant group for the independent samples t-test and ANOVA test consists of 403 teaching students. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that the "Attitude Scale Towards the Olympic Games" is a valid and reliable measurement tool. It is seen that the developed scale consists of 8 items and 2 factors, and it is expressed as Interest and Benefit in line with the information obtained from these factors. In the analyzes carried out to examine whether there are differences in students' attitudes towards the Olympic Games according to their demographic characteristics; It was determined that there was no significant difference in the attitude scale and sub-scores towards the Olympic Games in terms of gender and age variables. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in the attitude scale and sub-scores towards the Olympic Games in the case of faculty, department, class, active sports participation and following the last Olympic Games.
